Do I need a car?

  • We recommend renting a car. Taxicabs are expensive, and renting a car gives you the freedom to explore the island.

Do the cabins have electricity? What about hot water?

  • The cabins do not have electricity. They come with two camp lanterns, a propane stove, and a large cooler. The Bath house has 75 degree cool water. The common area has lockers where you can charge your electronics.

Is There Wifi?

  • The campground offers free WiFi in the commissary. Also, some restaurants offer free WiFi to paying customers.

How far is the beach?

Cane Bay Beach is literally a 2-3 minute walk from the cabins.

Is there a grocery store nearby?

  • Plaza Extra West is about 4 miles southwest of us on Centerline Road. Food, drinking water, propane, charcoal and ice are sold at Plaza West. If you are coming by taxi, make sure to stop at Plaza on the way to camp to purchase food, ice & other necessities.

How far away is the Bathhouse?

  • The bath house is between 30 seconds and 1 minute walk from your cabin. Cabin #00 is the closest.

Do I need to worry about snakes and spiders?

  • St. Croix does not have snakes, so you don't have to worry about them. Spiders live in the Tropics, and are part of life here, as well as other insects. This is camping in a tropical forest, so you will have visitors. If you are allergic to insect bites, or can't stand the thought of bugs, camping on St. Croix may not be for you.

What kind of person should camp at Cane Bay Campground?

  • Someone who enjoys nature, but doesn't want to be too far away from everything. Someone who doesn't want to have to drive to the beach or bars/restaurants everyday. Someone who likes the outdoors, but doesn't want to sleep in a tent. Someone who isn't afraid of nature.

Is there a bar there?

  • The campground does not have a bar or restaurant, but there is a restaurant on site.
